Hey! Need everyone's help to determine what the best video player is for the z10 with 10.2.1.

I'm regularly disappointed with the stock BlackBerry players' incompatibility to play a lot of torrent video formats. I had since downloaded Kalemsoft Media Player, but recently am finding issues with audio/video syncing. Annoying to see this with an app I paid for.

Now with access to the android store via Snap, I downloaded MX Player which I heard to be the best, but recently I'm also seeing issues with mismatched audio/video, no sound, etc. Also downloaded Android Video Player and HD Video Player, but the results are not ideal.

Seems like I have to float between multiple players to find decent playback. Not sure where exactly the problem lies but I'm guessing it's audio/video codecs that some players have and others don't?

Any suggestions with other players that I haven't mentioned??

    Thanks!

I just got Media Blast (sale for the add-ins) but have not really had time to try it out.

For me, Kalemsoft is suddenly allowing the z10 to lapse into a sort of Standby. The video keeps playing but the screen goes to lock-screen or active frames and I can hear the audio. I have to walk over a wake it back up, rewind the video a bit.

Thanks, tried Nutty Player in BlackBerry World, unfortunately can't play an MKV x264 video torrent I have (see screenshot).

I wish there was just one video player that could play everything, I don't understand why so many codecs and formats are issues!

    Any other suggestions??

Well there are not much media player for BlackBerry since its not media centric device

If you want to play any media codecs then I suggest you to get android

Although almost all android apps work with BlackBerry but kind a laggy and the once you need sometime wont work

Voice sync can be an issue. I recall my Creative Zen mp3/video player had a way to change the sync rate so you could realign audio/video. I'm not sure that I've seen that on any apps in the "modern" world.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions - just downloaded BS Player from Snap, will give it a go and see how it fares vs the 4 other android video players, kalemsoft, and the stock BlackBerry player...

    Thanks!

Thats a very good app. But I find that it pops up on task master (an app which finds background running android apps)

So it it noticeably sucks up battery on both my Q10 and Z30

The container (AVI/MKV/MP4/etc) is not the problem. It's codec support for the audio (MP3/AAC/DTS/LPCM/etc) and video (XVID/x264/etc) compression that needs to be addressed. Along with that, support for SRT/*** sub files and timing adjustment options are required.

I think you nailed it. I downloaded BS Player as suggested here, found similar issues with stuttering and mismatched audio with certain torrents. For now I'm stocking it up to bad video files, as I didn't seem to have this issue with other recent downloads.

I now have the following players in my arsenal...

    BlackBerry Stock Media Player (obviously)
    Kalemsoft Media Player
    SRT Video Player
    MX Player
    HD Video Player
    Android Video Player
    Nutty Player
    BS Player Free

Wish I just had one that worked with everything, but the reality is some players just work better. And some torrent files are crap that nothing plays right. Will have to see going forward which ones work best and shortlist.

    Thanks for all the feedback!

Yeah, VLC android app has got to be worth a look. It's in beta but if it's anything like the full version it will be the best you can get. Swiss Army knife of the video world.

Which version - there seem to be quite a number of apps that have VLC as part of their name? Developer or other clue could be helpful. Thanks.

Sorry, been a while since I've participated this much in the forums... the Z10's turned me in to a crackberry again.

As mentioned, check out "VLC for Android beta" V0.1.4 . I got it directly from Snap.

Thanks, very much. Yes, it must be country-restricted. It did not show up in Snap and when I went to Google Store with the Browser, I got an prompt about it not being available for my device/country. A google search also showed an older message about it not available in the North America.

    So, again, THANKS.

Looks like something is wrong ....

Yes, something is wrong with ME. I tried installing it like a BAR file, forgetting it was an apk file. Obviously, installers for BAR files barf on apk files.
