Hi,

I use BBM and especially voice and video services and they drain the battery out and make it hot. How to prevent this?

The battery drains faster and becomes hotter if you are using your Mobile Network, or using it in a low-coverage area when making BBM Video and Voice services. You can minimize this by connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Since my vzw update a few days ago, I've noticed my phone gets hot the battery drains pretty quickly. On the app manager I see that BBM is using 45% and it's not even open (or even used for several hours). If I restart the phone, BBM goes back to idle.

There's a new BBM out now. I don't know if it addresses power use.

@nrkbb that happened to me too, 2-3 weeks ago. BBM went wild and drained my battery. It went hot too. Hard reset resolved the issue.

I haven't done hard reboot for a while I guess it's what my BlackBerry needs. Thanks for advice.

Same issue started again this morning. At 9am I had a full charge. By 1130 I was down to 58% with the only using being a few text messages and lite browsing for about 10 minutes.

Checked my apps and BBM was at was at 45% and I have even used it in 3 days. I have latest update for VZW and updated BBM last week just before this issue started.

Are you still facing this issue? Did you find any solutions? It is troubling me quite often

I'm another z10 user waiting for a solution to this BBM drain thing. It's bonkers...ruining what is a good phone. I've tried hard resetting, also tried disabling BBM in parental controls but no luck.

How much BBM video are you using? Video uses more CPU than just basic BBM.
