I recently bought a new z10 through T-Mobile USA and I had previously backed up my unlocked z10 1003- Model on my IMac 27 using the latest version of BB Link. I plugged in my new z10 and it asked if I wanted to transfer the data from my old BB z10 account to the new phone and I clicked yes. It transfered everything over and once that was completed, I did a Restore function and selected the backup I had just done from my unlocked phone.

It took a while (about 10-15 minutes) so be patient, once it had completed, my new z10 was exactly as my previous one was and saved me the time of reloading all my apps and settings. Just thought I would pass it along for anyone out there who was skeptical about trying it.

PS: If you use the restore function, it will prompt you to re-enter your passwords on your email, facebook and tiwtter accounts. I am assuming the backup does not save the passwords?

I think as long as there is no option for an ecrypted backup in the Link-Software, there will be no chance to safe passwords.
iTunes works this way too - if you protect your backup, all passwords will be also restored.

You are correct, I have also noticed the same thing when I did a restore to my iPhone 5 from Itunes.
