Banking Apps

How difficult is it to convert Android banking apps to work on BlackBerry Playbook and BlackBerry 10? Are there any security risks when you use Android Runtime with such apps?

I ask this because many banks have an android app but not a BlackBerry app..

I also would like to know this answer. I contacted chase and they said "@ChaseSupport: @Ant_Tonio There's no official word on if or when there will be a BlackBerry10 app. Please follow for updates as info becomes available. ^TW"

You can always use their mobile version in the meantime.

unless YOU are the one converting it, you'd be very foolish to access your bank using a sideloaded app someone else had their fingers into.

It is very unsafe, sometimes the protocols for connection can be unsafe, if you download a sideload, it might be infected to take your details. I very much go against this.

Just use the mobile version.

Yeah I use the .mobi but if the bank itself was to convert the app and make it available in the BBWorld, would it be safe?

Mobile banking is one of my must have apps. I use Chase and so far they have a great native BB7 app. I inquired at my local branch and the guy I spoke with (who had a 9930 on his desk) said he was 100% sure they would support BB10. Just unconfirmed but good news is good news .

i wouldn't trust sideloading and using an android banking app.

I'd never use anything but a BBappWorld Banking app. Luckily for me, my bank has an app. It's a must have for me also. If I did not have a banking app, I suppose I could use the mobile site, but the app makes it super handy.

What bothers me mostly is that many of these banking apps do not yet allow photo deposit of checks. I'm sure that will improve over time.

for Canadians who use PC Financial, they have an iphone app out now. They are readying an android app to release in the spring. I contacted them & they have no intention of a blackberry app, BUT they are developing a mobile site that will be accessible by bb's.

For canadians, BMO just released, finally, a much better version of their banking app. Really nice, essentially lets you do everything the full site does unlike the previous one, so I am hopeful that BB10 will follow shortly, if not available on launch.
