This great! I'm actually surprised that Amazon actually went through with launching the app this time around!

Got it on Telus! It's an Android port but seems to have everything.

Come on Amazon give us a native app!!!

+1. It's a crappy Android port, too. It does get the job done though, to be fair.

Finally it arrives, just downloading it...16mb is pretty big but meh its a must have app for me. Saves me from carrying my kindle around and it means another nail in the coffin for my S3

As Invalid said above its an Android port, was expecting better in all honesty but at least we have it. Find it slow and clunky as per usual with most android ports. Hopefully they will develop a proper native app in the future.

I have no objection to it being an android port, the app is good on there and good on the z10 too and better than getting an iffy native app like on bbos or wp8, but the real question is why it took them so bloody long to release an android port of something that people have been sideloading onto their playbooks for months already with no issues.

Exactly right. Kindle isn't an app that need high performance graphics or other whizbang features. It just needs to work. I've been using it on the PB for well over a year with no problems. The WP version lacked features that I'd prefer not to do without.

Horrible, slow performance. Page turns are jerky, navigating is an exercise in patience. Still, better than no kindle app.

Just got it, also in UK.
I don't care it's an Android port as long as it gets updated when needed.
I'm guessing this won't load on the playbook till it gets BB10

No but you can sideload it on to the playbook, its the same app:

    Works perfectly fine

Sounds much worse than it was sideloaded on my PB, for some reason. Still, now that it's there, there's hope for upgrades.

Already on there, thanks, but have to manually check for updates with sideloaded apps so BB world versions would be preferable even if still ports to get update notifications. Or is there an RSS feed for sideloaded app updates?

exactly. ports are quicker to distribute and will lead to better things
