Default Whats this $4/month blackberry warranty fee?

Hey guys,

I was looking at my bill and it was $5 more than what I had initially agreed to so I called up Bell's billing department and they said that they are charging $4/month for blackberry warranty. I asked her to explain it to me but she didnt do a good job at it. What the **** is that? And do I really need it?

Get the insurance...that 4 to 7 bucks a month will come in handy if your device needs replacing rather then paying 500 bucks to replace your device without the coverage.

I think its the insurance thing for my phone. So if I lose my phone or if it stops working, I can buy a new one for $150?

Yep better than paying $500+ for a new one. Plus i think you can do two clains within 12 months.

I'm pretty sure the $4 insurance is only the extended warranty, past 1 year warranty from RIM. I don't think it covers lost, physical or water damage. I would call again to cs to get more info.

I'd definitely call in and see if you can get the upgrade to the $7 warranty

I use to curse when I worked in a sprint call center and noticed they had insurance options so I was uber excited to see the insurance pop up on all the carriers. It makes a lot more sense to pay $7 a month in case you loose or break your phone with a $150 deductable when it happens as opposed to 500 or more upfront to replace it by having to buy a new one outright. Insurance should be a priority no matter what carrier your on. Accidents happen.

How to protect my mobile phone with Smart/Phone Care : Premium plan

The $4 only covers defects in the phone, the $7 plan covers accidental damage, loss, theft, etc. Personally, I wouldn't bother with either, but I never get extended warranties.
