Default Using WiFi -- Avoiding Data Usages while Roaming

I'm in Houston Texas with my BB 9700. I have gone into the Manage Connections->Mobile Network Options menu and set Data Services to "Off" While Roaming. I am roaming with AT&T. The BB icon disappears beside the 3G icon on the home screen and I assume that I have disabled data services on the voice network, but can still use data services (as long as I don't turn *these* off in the same menu) but over WiFi.

It all seems to work, but it makes me a bit nervous. I'm trying to avoid any data charges on AT&T while roaming down here in the States. My family can still call me, thus I'm leaving the mobile network on.

Could someone verify that I've done everything correctly? I've read some conflicting information about this.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply! I've since verified with Bell Mobility that I've had no data usage since I departed on Sunday the 13th of June. I've found lots of WiFi hotspots here in Houston including at my hotel, so haven't really missed using data on the cell network too much anyway.

I'm doing the same thing in Florida. My grandparents have a place with a bunch of networks all around so I did the same thing as out and it works great! Even got BBM, Email, twitter, FB.
I love my 9700!

Really makes you realize why everyone in the US is all hot for wifi, on the phones, it seems to be all over the place, where in Canada Wifi hotspots are pretty few and far between.

One quickway to check to see if you're on a networks data is the smaller bb icon between 3G and your signal strength.

No 4leaf bb icon no data, just re assurance for when roaming
