Default Unlocked Torch: Plan Options?

Hi all,

I have a family member that works for RIM and was able to get an unlocked Torch for a good price through their internal programs. I'm now searching for a voice/data plan that suffices my needs.

I'd like:

Minimal airtime (I only use it for emergencies)
Unlimited social networking + IM
Unlimited text/video/picture messaging if possible
Some sort of data so I can occassionally check out youtube/music apps/bb apps

The "good" plans I keep finding (the popular $40) seem to only exist if I purchase a phone from Bell. Seeing that I already have one, I'm looking for just the SIM card and service.

Does anyone know of any good plan options for me?

Thanks!

If you work for a corporation or part of a certain association you may qualify for a corporate plan which usually is pretty good deal and don't always require you to sign a contract. You would howver either have to ask in store or call customer service to find out more.

As well the $40 plans also don't include data for you to view youtube or music apps and bb apps. Its only for social networking and IM

Really? Bell restricts certain plans to phones purchased directly from them? If that's the case, I'll be switching to Telus or Rogers when I get a new Blackberry.

They don't restrict plans to phones purchased directly from them or not from them at all. Some plans just require a 3 year contract as they are promotional plans and alot of carriers in Canada does this. Telus and Rogers does this alot and in the past have experienced that when I decreased my monthly plan they renewed my contract as this was their policy (Rogers).

Does it say on their site what plans require a contract or not? or I'm guessing it's buried in the terms and conditions?

I believe currently they have no plan on their site that requires a 3 year contract except $ if the student plan is still available. Student Plans usually require a 3 year and any promotional deals such as waived activation fee would require you sign 3 years. But yes its buried into their fine details and terms and conditions.
