Unlock bell bold 9700 for virgin mobile canada

I'm now a proud new bold 9780 owner with bell!
My previous phone was a bold 9700 with bell and I want to give this phone to my cousin that is on virgin mobile canada. How do I unlock this baby?
Do I need to put a virgin sim card in and than put in the unlock code or can I just unlock it with a bell sim card in and than just swap the card with a virgin one?
Where is the quickest place and reliable place to get codes?

Quickest and most relaibel is either cellunlock or freethisberrydotcom. But freethisberrydotcom is for sure one of the cheapest. You should be fine putting in any SIM card or the unlock process

you may not need to unlock it as in canada virgin is run on bells network, just like fido is rogers and kodo is telus

You still need to unlock it. It will read SOS if you don't. Virgin just leases the towers.

Actually Bell (or BCE) owns Virgin Mobile in Canada, not leases their towers.
