Default Tethering on Bell - now allowed! (post speedtest)

As of a while ago bell has updated their plans to now allow tethering, which means that they no longer charge you for tethering!
On Windows you just need to use Blackberry desktop manager, if it needs login info it's your Bell.ca account (create one if you don't have one, then you can manage your account better) and your phone number.
On a Mac just pair your blackberry with bluetooth, then click on the bluetooth tab in the network part of system preferences. I think using a HSPA device will be a little tricker, but there is probably an easy guide.

Make sure that your plan has been updated and supports this before trying
For a Mac just pair, then this windows will pop up. fill out the correct info.
I know the CDMA version works, but I would like confirmation for the HSPA side as i don't know if that's the correct APN, let alone which CID number to use.

I'm pretty sure Wind is the ONLY Canadian company with unlimited data, tho their coverage is fairly limited at the moment...
I can't imagine Bell offering unlimited, but they may increase the data per pricepoint if we're lucky.

I've got unlimited data, but only because I have an older plan which expires in September 2011. I called Bell to determine whether tethering is included in my plan. It isn't. No big deal since I'm using the Tether application. (Tether BlackBerry | BlackBerry Modem | Tether).

i dont think anyone offers tethering with an unlimited plan...the better bet would be to go with a data stick

Wind Mobile offers unlimited data for $35 and it includes tethering.

Finally! After much searching and trying hundreds of different ways to try tethering on my mac through bluetooth I have finally succeded!

For HSPA devices (such as the Bold 9700) here is the info that you'll need:
APN: inet.bell.ca
Telephone number: *99#
Account name: character
Password: character

Enjoy!
