putting the squeeze on Bell -
So my wife negotiated a great deal on renewal.
She had an early upgrade fee of $120, plus the $35 activation fee.
She mentioned the Rogers white sale and said they offered $100 credit for moving over.
Bell offered to waive the activation fee, give a credit of $75 to the account, $50 phone trade in (galaxy vibrant), same plan as the other thread.
So not bad at all for a twenty minute call.
If you are renewing, you can get this done.
Has anyone seen better this week? - 02-07-2013, 12:05 AM #2
That's perfect timing to end a contract just as the new Z10 came in.... I wish my Bell contract was up!
I still have 19 months left on my current plan, I'm available to get an early upgrade, but I have to pay $285+$35 hardware change.
Then I have to buy a new phone with a new contract and these new contracts are not as good as the one I'm currently on for my plan.Hello IT, Have you tried turning it off and on again? - 02-07-2013, 11:43 AM

I had a similar experience as an existing customer. I negotiated waiving the $120 and activation fee along with a $75 credit and $90 for my Torch. They also told me that shortly new plans will be in place with more data included at a lower cost...we'll see.

So when is the right time to make the call to the Retention department...before going in for the upgrade to the Z10 or after you have upgraded?
I was on a waiting list with local Bell store and just received a call that they have one with my name on it. - 02-09-2013, 10:48 AM

Definitely before.
Call them, get the best deal possible then hang up and wait for their text survey. Rate poorly on the survey.
You will get a follow up call and then you squeeze them for a little more. - 02-15-2013, 01:20 PM #8
Has that worked for you? Successive discussions to gain you a little more for your money? I've just gotten from retentions a $10 reduction on my Bundle 12 (with a caveat of waiting a month for an upgrade), and wonder if this can be done to e.g. gain more data or reduce the cancellation fee.
