Default Pay Per use charges on Unlimited Data Plan

I am on an unlimited data package, Blackberry and Internet, Tether is the only thing not included.

I have 6.7mb of pay per use data on my Blackberry Torch (Bell), yet I do not have the Tether application, and I have never tethered.

Through the night, while I was sleeping, it accumulated another 0.03mb of pay per use data!!

For the record, I have been complaining over the past 6 months to Bell that I have pay per use charges on my account with a 9700. Although the charges before the Torch were minimal, there was "bursts" all over my bill that added up to a couple of dollars. This is however going to be a significant bill at 6.7mb.

When I speak to Bell they have not been able to explain the charges on my previous months bills, but this is not going to be a couple of dollars!!

The two pictures are of my data usage from Tcare, hours apart.... I was sleeping in those hours!!!

Well according to this page here there is no unlimited data plan on Bell. I would recommend you actually post your data plan and let those that really know tell you what they think is happening. Even on this page there is no mention of any unlimited data plan.

I'm on a corporate plan, the unlimited data is no longer available. The plan is now 500mb limit. Actually, it is unlimited Internet and Email.... Not "Data". I was just told my plan includes a lot of things that the other plans do not.... But when asked what that includes, not clear.

I did speak with Bell this morning and they have credited all pay per use charges. Still not sure why it is happening, but they did make some changes on my account to correct a data billing issue from November 2009.

"Unlimited" refers to the amount of data, not the type. Apparently there are differences on what is included in the different data/internet/email/social networking packages. My plan does not include "Data". Data maybe the difference between viewing youtube and downloading from youtube. Or viewing facebook or posting to it. I do understand the internet and data, unfortunately the CSR at Bell does not.

I still cannot get a definitive answer on what is included and what is not. On a positive note, neither can they! So I keep getting the extra data charges reversed.

Not that this will help, but here is my invoice showing the unlimited plan.

It is interesting that you think that there are not plans and features out there that are not posted on Bell's website...

There are hundreds of packages that are for corporate accounts only.

Nothing on that indicates Unlimited data, unlimited Email email yes, Data your on the BB 30 plan. This sounds like what your describing on your invoice.

I am sure there are plans for corporate only, but even with your invoice printed there is nothing indicating Unlimited Data. Just unlimited Email. have a good day.

As I said.....

Honestly, if you don't know any more than what is published on Bell's website, don't reply. Again your link is wrong as it is an email plan only. I have email and internet. First post says that.

AND the invoice says "zUNL Email & Internet BBerry Usage". What more do you want?

Ok, then let's look at this from a different angle. What changed on the service 6 months ago that might account for the charges? Pull out your invoices from that period and see if the data plan changed any.

I'm sure that's because unlimited data isn't supported with HSPA and it's only working on CDMA..

Let me correct this for you: "zUNL Email & Internet BBerry 30 Blackberry Usage".

"zUNL Email & Internet BBerry 30 Blackberry Usage" is an expired plan. You won't find it on the bell mobility website since it is expired. It was available for anyone to add to their accounts. The OP is correct everything is unlimited under the Bells terms of use, other than Tethering. Looks like an app on your torch is updating via the wrong apn. Make sure everything is set to pda.bell.ca. I'm assuming your torch is unlocked from AT&T? Check your invoices if the pay per use charges coincide with you adding the Torch to your account.

Not that it's needed at this point since other posters have confirmed this, but I have one of those unlimited data plans. While it's not offered anymore, it does give me the peace of mind that I can't go over the top with my data usage...as long as I'm not tethering.

I too have unlimited data

the only time I pay for data is when I go to the US,

I am not sure where the OP lives, but if you are near the boarder and $8/MB cost really makes me think you are, your phone is connecting to the US for data occasionally and you're getting busted for it.

Also if you ever leave a CDMA phone and go to a HSPA phone you will also lose the unlimited data package, they are no longer grandfathering them over with HSPA phones. keep that in mind

The unlimited plan is nice, but unless you're really doing media streaming (utube, radio) or large downloads (podcasts) the unlimited really isnt needed now a days. for the $30 Unlimited Data Feature (from back in the day) is now best replaced by the $30 for 6GB so you can have the ability to even tether your device. If it is included in your plan, I'm sure you must be near your 3yr mark, give retention a call and see what they can do to change this. I also agree with thestillwind, I think the HSPA devices are no longer compatable with the Unlimited Data as it gets it a different way (3G channels, not 1XEV) Though I have not confirmed this yet.

Not sure why you would say that? My Bold 9700 3G phone is on an unlimited data plan, grandfathered when I retired my Curve 8330 CDMA phone.
