Default just received sms from Bell about updated SIM Card

I just got the following from Bell:

Free Bell Msg: To ensure the best wireless experience, get a free updated SIM card at a Bell store today.

Anyone have any idea what this means? What's the difference with the new SIM cards?

haha I wasn't planning on getting it until I knew exactly what it was.

All I know is that both my wife and I got the text today. We both have blackberry 9700's and incidentally we're both running OS 6. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

I got the msg too. I have a 9700 but not running OS 6.

Wonder if they found some kind of problem?

I just got off the phone with Bell tech support and they told Me that any bell sim card with BM### ending in 007 or 009 needs to be changed out to help with possible signal and connectivity issues mine is a 007 and I received the text msg advising Me of this earlier today

Lol at least you got an answer, I called them twice yesterday evening, and they told me it was spam and unsolicited. I even called my local bell world and they knew nothing of this.

strange thing is, I've had this phone and sim card for a year now and have never experienced any connection problems. It's been wonderful. I'm almost afraid to do the swap without knowing exactly what it changes.

Stopped by my friendly neighbourhood Bell Store on the way home from work and had my SIM replaced because I had one of "007" SIMs that they were doing preventative replacement therapy on. I wasn't having any problem with my BB which makes what happened next kinda funny. Ironically something got messed up in their system since, while I did get a message from RIM saying that my phone was "registered", BIS was fogged. I put in a call about 2 hours ago to Bell Mobility and they will attend to it....probably just pushing service books and properly registering my phone. I went to my self service BIS settings online and entered my IMEI number with my PIN and they couldn't find it on the system, so I guess we know where the problem was.

Anyway, minor issue as far as these things go, because I'm not travelling so don't need my BB to be anything more than a phone for the weekend but it does prove the adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!".

yeah, same thing happened to my wife and I. Both our 9700's could not register with Bell's BIS servers after the SIM swap, so we have no data access. The person at the store called the data support number for us and they informed as that they've been having problems with the switchovers and this has been happening to a lot of people. They took our numbers and assured us that it would be manually fixed tomorrow morning.
