Bell Retentions
Fortunately for me, I am nearing the end of my contract with Bell, and have a shot at upgrading my Bold 9700 to a z10.
With my current plan I have:
150 local minutes
Evening/Weekend after 5pm
U/L incoming text/pic/video
250 outgoing text (not MMS)
500MB data
VM,CDisplay, forwarding
I have been with them for many years and wanted to see what they would offer from retentions, and was offered the following two:
Plan 1
U/L talk nationwide
U/L text/pic/video International
2GB data
VM,CD, Cid
$56 plus tax
If I want to get the new BB Z10 or Q10, I will only be eligible for the voice rebate and not the data rebate. This means I will have to partially pay for the new phone (~$350).
Plan 2
200 local minutes
Evening/Weekend after 6pm
U/L text/pic/video
6GB data
VM,CD, Cid
$59 plus tax
If I want to get the new BB Z10 or Q10, I get $50 off the 3 year plan price - so $89.99
What are people's thoughts? There seem to be some pros and cons to both... I would appreciate some insight. Thank you! - 02-12-2013, 02:52 PM #2
I would go plan 2, Data to me is a lot more important to me than airtime.

@Forzastevo and those with the old Bell Blackberry All-in Combo35 or Combo45 plans.
I have the same plan myself
All-in Combo45 5pm-36M Email & Internet BlackBerry 500 Basic Long Distance Rate Call Display Message Centre
150 daytime minutes. 500mb data, unlimited incoming calls, 250 text msg, unlimited everything incoming
$45 per month + I opted for the $5 for unlimited texting to bring me to $50 per month.
Now I got the new Z10 and want to upgrade the data. I spoke with bell and she explained that it will cost .03 cents per MB after I pass the 500MB making the change in this plan not a good idea. The old All-in Combo plan are gone. On all new plans, data costs are .15+ cents per additional MB over quota. There aren't a lot of people paying $45-$50 for their mobile including the data so I would stay as you are. Also the after 5pm free calling comes in handy on those drives home after work. - 02-20-2013, 03:33 PM #11
Bell has an option where you can add an additional 500MB of data for $5 extra a month

This is a standard plan, not retentions. But an amazing deal all the same. You need an address in Thunder Bay to take advantage of this plan and it ends February 28.

Plan 2 sucks, what the **** you gonna do with 200 mins and how imp. is data really? Everybody has wifi at home just use that and it's not like you'll be constantly watching movies on the go, I don't think so. People have better things to do. Go with plan 1, you won't find a better deal than that anywhere. Plan 1's acctual cost is around $85 check bell's website.

I think you missed the part where I get everything you get plus an additional gigabyte of data and ten hours of mobile TV for half the price.
The best deal I've heard of through Rogers was unlimited North American calling, text, CID, VM etc. for $50. Add $30 for 6GB of data. - 02-23-2013, 03:15 AM #16
How important is data? Well, after streaming some Champions League games while at work (shhh, don't tell anyone), and streaming radio to and from work, youtube, internet, apps, BB World, BBM, etc... it's essential for a full and thoroughly enjoyable experience with a phone like this. Minutes of airtime aren't that necessary even because most people just text anyway. 6GB is the way to go.
Innovation requires a partnership, the user and the maker have to be willing to change to achieve it.

My original plan was the Fab 10 with 100 mins talk time + 100 bonus mins talk time, unlimited text nationwide calling 500mb of data with blackberry social, voice mail and evening and weekends free with basic long distance for 65 bucks. When I upgraded to the Z10 I got same deal with 1gb of data and Bell TV and phone insurance for 7 dollars more.
