Default bell network tech

I have a unlocked tmobile 9700. Will it work on Bell's network. I took a look at their newer phones, and they seem to be all gsm/hspa, but I thought bell was a cdma network. Will things work?

no it will not.

They use different 3G bands.

it will get 3G on WIND, and EDGE on Rogers.

Nothing on Bell or Telus

Bell went HSPA+ on November 9th 2009, and use bands 1,2,5,6 for 3G.

T Mobiles uses AWS (alternate spectrum) for their 3G, not compatible with Bell

thanks, so rogers would be the only choice. I want to sign up without a contract, but that shouldn't be a problem.

EDGE on Rogers is option but its not even near 3G speeds. Good for BIS/BES email only but not for (decent) browsing or tethering

I'd go get a plan with Wind or Mobilicity.

bell supports cdma and hspa. it all depends on your area. the connection that bell uses for its cdma is different than tmobile so no it will not work. there are VERY few places left in canada that bell still offers cdma coverage they are upgradeing a lot of there system to hspa, check out the coverage map on their website shows the differnt networks.

Since OP already has T-mo 9700, OP has to decide whether to go get a Wind/Mobilicity plan or invest on another device. It will not give any coverage whatsoever on Bell unfortunately.

You can use Mobilicity or WIND they are using same 2G as T-Mobile you will get EDGE speeds.
