Rogers has announced that an update is coming that will give the 9900 UMA (wifi calling) and wifi hotspot. Of course nothing from Bell.
Also, some US carriers have access to Skype for Blackberry. Again nothing from Bell.
I would like the UMA for better reception indoors. I don't care if I have to pay for it. Bell is so afraid of loosing a penny it's ridiculous.
Done and disgusted.
Next phone will be Apple and not with Bell. | You gotta keep in mind when you signed with Bell or even got a phone through them, Bell has never offered UMA and probably never will. Bell doesn't promise alot of things just customers think the carriers should and start blasting them. I do agree its annoying as a Bell customer we don't get alot of things but Rogers and Fido has been the only ones ever offering UMA functionality to work with their hotspot calling. If you actually had the intention of using UMA you should have done your research and signed with Rogers or Fido (they do charge for hotspot calling about $5 for local access to use wifi calling on pay-per use, $10 for unlimited local or $15 for unlimited canada-wide). I don't see Skype ending up on much of the Canadian carrier's phone at all, as in the contracts terms and conditions it states that the customer will not use any VOIP programs over the network, or the carrier can terminate the contract. If they offered Skype they would just be contradicting themselves. Good luck with your future iPhone, everyone has their own needs and uses what keeps them happy.
