3G doesnt work on curve 8330?
On the back of my blackberry curve 8330, it clearly says 3G CDMA, yet it has never been able to connect to 3G in 3G supporting areas. Bell does have a 3G network, yet my phone only ever has 1X and EVDO, while other blackberries normally have a little 3G icon in the corner of the screen. Any ideas as to why this is?

I thought so too, but my web pages load slower than on a 3G network. I also cannot browse the web during a call and sometimes it tells me that the web page i'm trying to load is too big, which doesn't happen on my friend's 3G BB.

For the 3G icon to appear, the phone needs to be an HSPA phone (Bold 9000 or Bold 9700 for the Bell network)
The 3G refered to on the back of the phone is the EVDO network. - 02-13-2010, 10:02 AM #5
Correct, they can put what they want on the back of your 8330, it's not 3G, it's EVDO...

You cannot browse and talk on CDMA networks simultaneously without Wi-Fi, which the 8330 doesn't have.

EVDO is 3g on CDMA phones. HSPA is 3g on GSM phones.

*Avoids being a broken Record* Ya, everyone is right. :P There is no 83xx Curve that's HSPA 3G. Only 1X-EVDO.
