I stumbled across this post on Engadget and now I'm wondering if changing to HTML5 will allow Netflix to stream to the BB PB and BB10 devices. Thoughts?

It's never been a technical limitation for Netflix not being on BB10 or PlayBook. It's been a business decision on Netflixs part from an app point of view. Now with the change if BlackBerry were to implement the required drm/cryptography apis there's a chance it could work in the browser.

and Netflix already use non-silverlight streaming for iOS devices, some Netflix blog suggest its a secure HTML5 streaming... but I don't believe they stream HD for iOS yet... not needed for a tiny small device anyway... What this "secure" html5 video codec is - I don't know - Netflix don't seem to keen to talk about it. So Shao is most likely correct in that it is only a business decision. Some have however stated that the secure html5 video codec is Not available for the Playbook... so hopefully it is in BB10.. and soon on the Playbooks updated OS

This feature is now working on Windows 8.1 preview version with Internet Explorer 11. I would hope that this is coming in BB OS 10.2.
