I have seen so many people on this site talking about shorts in the most derogative terms.

I just wanted to point out that both management along with those in long position and shorts have incentives. The incentive are in different directions, but shorters' incentives are as noble (or ignoble as that of the management.

If shorters tend to "lie" (as some people here say) by downgrading estimates, the management does the opposite. Today's events are a good example as Thorstein has been saying he is happy about the sales and other BBRY officials have been offering their portion of lies (e.g. app availability at launch).

So, the answer to the question is "Neither". However, a very important take-away point is that shorters are not evil. Or not more evil than any other player. I hope the "conspiracy theory" posts bashing shorters will become rarer as there may be as much "conspiracy" from longs and management.
