No kidding, the specs are great. Did you guys read the id1ots complaining over the littlest things in the PassPort spec thread?

There were posts recently somewhere in these forums linking to Gizmodo articles. Wasn't DARPA/military showing interest in Project Ara because of the myriad of combinations they could pit together? Along the lines of attach a sensor module to detect "this," then swap another to detect "that.". Sorry I don't have the links.

Would be cool if BlackBerry partnered with Boeing on their self destructing "black phone" for on the battlefield usage. But I believe Boeing is using Android since the military has reportedly been testing Android phones since 2011.
Fair enough. But the average consumer won't test the security to the same extent as the gov / military. Buy a third party camera module, can you trust it not to take pics remotely when you don't want it to? I wouldn't.

If it was BlackBerry the stock would tank again. But it's the almighty Apple so all the tech sites will spin it as a positive. Insane.

    Hey Morgan+8,

Did you say support was around $9 and resistance around $11.80? So, if I wanted to do a side-trade, I should buy when it's close to $9 and sell when it's close to $11.8?

Eg: buy at $9.30 and sell at $11.4
    Repeat.

Correct or did I misunderstand you?

Based on? If is due to the delay, those rumors were out before end of last week so already in the price. Won't have much impact on this week's share value. Unless going to be extended delay much much longer than originally thought.

    Morning chrysaurora!!!

The mid range is now $ 9.00 to $ 10.80/shr/US. We became grossly over-bought back in June, having put in a bottom at $ 9.00 and then rallying up to the recent highs of $ 11.59/shr. The problem was that the RSI became so over-bought that we came crashing down quickly from there! When we got to the $ 11.50 plus area, we tried 3 times to press higher even though the RSI=85 should have told everyone that computer driven trades would take us back down. That was the time to write/sell Call Options or perhaps some stock to take advantage of the profit-taking that is naturally expected with RSI > 70..

The BBRY Café. [Formerly: I support BBRY and I buy shares!]-bbry-august-25-2014.png

Since then, we have found support at $ 9.00/shr, briefly, followed by a tracking of the 50-dma right back towards the $ 10.80 area, while all of this is occurring during the Summer dull-drums of August. When September rolls around, traders will be back in full force just when BlackBerry is about to launch several new products. This time around, I believe we will clear the $ 10.80/shr level and stay above that level for the balance of the year. So I wouldn't be trying to trade this stock until after I see what happens in September!

MobileIron Surges 10%: BlackBerry May Get Ditched with Apple?s iOS 8 - Tech Trader Daily - Barrons.com

Deutsche Bank’s Karl Keirstead today reiterates a Buy rating on shares of MobileIron (MOBL), the maker of software to manage devices inside corporate networks, arguing the company may see a rise in activity as companies ditch BlackBerry (BBRY) devices in favor of Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone.

Keirstead alludes to conversations with companies that suggest the release of Apple’s “iOS 8” version of its mobile operating system will close the gap in security with BlackBerry devices, and therefore make Apple’s iPhone and iPad more acceptable to enterprise:

According to our recent checks, the real catalyst for an enterprise move to replace their BlackBerry’s may not be the launch of BES12 and an evaluation of its functionality, but rather the launch of Apple’s iOS 8 operating system, which Apple has indicated is due “in the fall of 2014” and many Apple- watchers believe is coming in September 2014 [...] While much of the media and analyst attention has been on the consumer- focused improvements coming in iOS 8, our attention is squarely on the new enterprise-grade features. Apple itself has flagged expanded data protection and encryption (using the current device passcode to extend data encryption to email and third-party apps), per message S/MIME (allows users to sign and encrypt individual messages), Always-ON VPN (which adds more security), more granular app and document content control (the ability to push or remove docs), new MDM features for IT administrators (setting device names remotely, new MDM queries), new app development features (such as developer access to the Touch ID fingerprint technology) and the removal of AirDrop (which allows users to share files with nearby Apple users).

Keirstead thinks enterprises continue to have concerns about BlackBerry’s stability and lack of apps:

We recently spoke with the mobile IT head at one large enterprise, which is planning a partial migration away from BlackBerry due to three issues, including 1) concerns about BlackBerry’s ongoing ability to invest at scale to support new devices as well as the employee turnover in accounts execs and the engineering ranks, 2) concerns about the app eco-system compared to Apple and the MDM platform compared to pure-plays and 3) end user preference, believing that most employees prefer iPhones (in the 2Q14 data from IDC, BlackBerry garnered just 1.5% share of total unit shipments).

BlackBerry’s forthcoming “BES 12” version of its mobile management software may not prevent companies from moving to MobileIron or Citrix Systems (CTXS) or another software vendor for device management, he thinks:

This represents a risk to MOBL if BES12 were to have success becoming a multi-OS platform. Until recently, we’ve been under the impression that many enterprises will wait for the BES12 release before deciding whether to whether to upgrade or replace their BlackBerry infrastructures. Now, we’re less sure. More recent customer checks suggest that a migration is inevitable and that at best, BES12 will enable a more orderly transition and may be able to match, but likely not exceed, the MDM functionality offered by rival mobile device platforms.

Shares of MobileIron are up 89 cents, or almost 10%, at $10.26, while shares of BlackBerry (BBRY) are up 4 cents, or half a percent at $9.99.

16000 CZK is slightly less than 16GB iPhone 5s at 16800. 32GB iPhone 5s (as passport has 32GB + microSD) compares at 19000 CZK.

I really want to see this hit NA at $649 USD and $699 CDN price point.
