I'll do what these f***ers have done in all previous crisis (that they intentionally orchestrated IMH&personnalO). I'll buy more at a surrealistic low cost and wait for 3-5 years.
Note that my exposure is far from 0.5% of my personal assets.
I hope nobody's crazy enough (if not a professional) to bet on any stock fluctuation for his living.
Not sure RIMM has 3-5 years. I posted about my thought in another thread about the next few quarters being critical to RIMM.

I am not the author of this Article that came out a few minutes ago, but once again an exhausting, FACTUAL and very fair recounting of what the financial statements tell us.

"Now, I won't be too quick to react if RIMM disappoints again this quarter, but it will be troubling. The company just hired a new CEO, Thorsten Heins, so let's at least give him a full quarter before we ask for his head. But let me be clear, if RIMM doesn't show any improvement in the next few months, major changes will be needed."

"Well yes, Research in Motion is still profitable, but declining revenues and profits can't continue forever. You really can't buy this name for growth, because right now, there isn't any!"

"Can' buy for growth" to "disappear" id a huge gap
Well, you know, sometimes you have to believe your guts more than your head. I'm very prudent with numbers and analysis - yet not blind. I read so many posts, articles, blogs for about a year stating that RIM is dead and won't finish the current quarter that if it (my guts feeling) wasn't the case, I'd probably not have bought both my 9900 and PB ... even more be here.
What RIM have to offer in a 6 month schedule is simply unmatched. I won't write the whole thing, I bet all of the people here know the story from BB10 to Fusion. But piece by piece the puzzle is setting up and I believe in the silent German ability to orchestrate this well ... hopefully the 4 season's Spring way better than Valkyrie's .

At $13 a share, I had to buy in.

However unlikely it is, I am hoping for an Apple like comeback. If not, they will likely go above $20 later this year or early next year. With the release of the 9900 and PB, I feel like their reputation is increasing and they will be more successful.

People never got rich without making some sort of risk. $13 a share for a company that used to be above $100 recently and has the potential to hit a couple hundred if they have a huge success? Yes please.

Ok, let's play our own stock trend regarding the poll:
Good resistance around 40% , current 41.08 % awaiting a raise up to 45% and then maybe a rush ?
    Reasonable enough ?
[this is pure fiction, Ok ? ]

Some interest now focused on RIM's infrastructure and solutions. Investor's narrow view (devices only) seems to wide a little. At last.

Does anybody know why RIMM tanked another 3.5% today? I didn't see any news but volume was high and a big percentage move.

I responded no to the poll. Since the bad news started, I've been waiting for the price to go down to about $10-11/share. I think I'll be buying really soon. I see more potential with RIM then with Apple. That's not to say that Apple shares will drop, but for my investment to double, Apple will have to be worth a trillion dollars. Maybe with Jobs on helm, I might've thought this possible, but not now.

RIM's market value is $7.07 billion. While their net profit for last year was 3.4 billion.
Compare this to Apple's market value of ~$530 billion with a profit of $20 billion.

A less then stellar line up till the BB10 phone(s) comes out will keep market opinion of RIMM low imho, but I think as an investor, I'd invest in RIMM with the belief that it would give me a higher return on investment then Apple can.

Anyhow, Idk why I focused on Apple so much, but long story short, I'll be buying RIM shares soon. It is my own personal and very non-professional belief that I will be making money on this. However, I do realize that RIM is also the much more riskier bet.

Yet still the same lemonade ...
From what I see (again I'm no specialist) the quote is quite stable around $13.10/13.50 for quite a long time (not checking every day)... looks like many are waiting to see what BB10 is really able to do, prior to act.

But there's a positive news also : Q4 (overall) shipment forecast for tablets are better than expected ...
Q4 tablet shipment forecast raised, Digitimes reports - Yahoo! Finance
Could it be somehow/partially due to PB sales ?
But also, on the exact same cnbc network

(sorry for apple being title centric, the interesting (RIM) point is within the body of the article)

Problem is that this range is 78% lower than a year ago. No relief in sight.

Yep, global year (and sad) perspective.
    But now ... I'm looking forward (I'm still nothing but a 50 @ $15/share "supporter").
Yesterday hit the $13.74. Wait and see ... RIM corporate solutions seems to hit the press now, and this point of view is VERY important, as it is a massive profit sector (soft+services ...).

RIMM did not take the opportunity to pre-announce. My June 15's are up 30%, do I trust them and hold on until the 29th or take the money and run? Every time I've trusted them they've burned me. I think I will sit tight until the end of the day and maybe into next week but not until the 29th....

You're absolutely right, but also the day RIM confirmed the Q4 conference ... without issuing any profit warning.
    Isn't it ?

So, the blinking tree is over and the result is quite positive IMHO.
Big exchanges and yet, +6,91 % ... the "sell, buddy, sell" trend has not worked.
Good point, let's wait for Q4 announcements.

I just bought a Playbook for $200 + accessories. I bet that had more impact on RIM's earnings than buying 1,000 shares from another investor.

Now, it's time for our experts to give us (I finance noob) some lightning ...
Yesterday was a hot day with almost 7% up with a high exchange volume - whatever the reason - and today (in an average volume - 1 hour before the bell), we can see that the $15 value has been flirted ... So, what do you think ?
What if RIM breaks back the $15 value ? And what is that dive between 10 and 11 AM ?

Thanks for your help&patience ... in advance !

RIM went up because of the Samsung rumor, but I don't quite see why Samsung want a piece of RIM. Reason being

    1. Samsung makes some nice Windows Phones, If it doesn't like where Google is taking Android, I would expect Samsung to make more WPs. I just checked # of WP apps, it has grown to 71K. The WP eco system clearly has some momentum, which may accelerate with Win8.

    2. Samsung is already big in emerging markets (smartphone or not), it doesn't need help there.

I don't think RIM can be saved by anybody else except itself.
