The company is not putting any more money into BlackBerry. They already stated that.

They are instead looking for other investors to join forces and take the company private. Private could still mean there are a number of investors who own the one company, it just won't be traded on the stock market, tsx or nasdaq, etc.

Its an unrecognized paper loss. Its not like they just lost that in cash.

How does that make it any better? It's just as bad, you can't ignore it, it's real.

That's not a good sign. Hopefully they already financially allocated / accounted for a potential BlackBerry takeover.

You were shorting SPX 500 at 1250, now it is 1750, and you have to pay the yearly dividend.

    That is a real loss.

And at some point you REALLY have to pay the piper. He may need to consider a hedge to hedge his previous hedge..... The market is running against him on the S&P hedge.

Besides the fact of broken promises and big name applications that are no longer on board with blackberry. It is apparent there's trouble in paradise.

I awoke this morning to a flurry of activity on my market watch only to find this > > Fairfax takes hit before BlackBerry deadline | Dashboard - Yahoo Finance Canada

And also the news from T - Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, That while they support blackberry they are not stocking BB10 devices in their stores they can be ordered online or through Retail outlets and drop shipped to customers. I Hope the Nov.4 dead line is not just that )) DEAD ((

Only on Crackberry do people so easily dismiss the significance of paper losses. Even in the best case scenario (i.e., full recoupment of value), there is opportunity cost.
