BlackBerry to stop selling handsets in Japan - Nikkei
Feb 8 (Reuters) - BlackBerry will stop selling smartphones in Japan, partly because the company cannot justify the cost of modifying its operating system to accommodate the Japanese language, the Nikkei business daily reported.

BlackBerry's market share in Japan has shrunk to 0.3 percent from 5 percent, the daily said.

BlackBerry could not be immediately reached for comment.

The company, which changed its name from Research In Motion when it launched its new BlackBerry 10 smartphones a week ago, will continue to offer support to existing users, the Nikkei said.

Oy that sucks... Japan though is 100% iPhone, so it would be a tough market to crack... (when I was there I saw only iPhones from literally everyone)

Not sure if its a good or a bad thing, one one hand it means that BBRY realizes the market potential is low and wont waste money on it. On the other hand, its a potential market lost.

Japan woul have been a tough battle - if this is confirmed - I believe strategy commands; if there's a real OS problem, they can afford to wait ... certainly not to abandon Japan.

When I look this chart, I think "someone" (I mean a group of people) is trying to pull the stock down. Is that obvious or am I on the "conspiracy" trend ?

I think they dont want to let it go yet, every pullback was followed by a strong upwards movement. A wild guess would be they are dragging the stock price down in order to buy.

The UAE launch on Sunday will give the market another interesting bump when it opens on Monday.

Expect some increases on into Friday in expectation of good news there.

The closing bell short covering usually happens after 3:30. If stuff goes best it could compound onto this recent rally and bring us up above 17
