If anything has been lived and taught by Warren Buffet it's this: if he doesn't understand a business, he won't buy or invest in it, simple as that.

The reason Buffett lives by that rule is because he is a long term investor, which is really the only kind there ever should be.

Warren Buffett, as someone said one time, read company reports like others read pulp fiction. Others have similar practices, and it really pays off in the long run, as the one with the most accurate information will win, as long as they know what to do with that information.

How is .20 to .30 cents options worth unless your commission rate is good. I find TD waterhouse options commission too high to trade cheap options
I've been using Interactive Brokers. Cost for options transactions varies, but I think it's been averaging around 50 cents per option.

Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY): More than 2 million BB10 phones will be sold in Canada over the next year?
Posted by Devon Colston on February 11, 20130 Comment

The newest Blackberry smartphone, Z10, is seeing good response in the United Kingdom and Canada, but can the company sell more than 2 million units of the phone in Canada over the next year?
    Well, apparently it could.
According to a poll by Forum Research, which conducted it on February 6, a day after the smartphone was launched in Canada, it is quite possible that the company would end up selling about 2.6 million phones in its home country.
Chief Executive, who has been working tirelessly to promote the devices, has made multiple appearances in Toronto, and talked the phone up.
The company’s launch of its new Blackberry 10 operating system and the response of customers to its latest smartphones are being viewed with interest by investors and the tech industry alike, to see if the company has got what it takes to revive its fortunes.
More than 1000 people in Canada were asked whether they would buy the new smartphone from Blackberry. About 8 percent said that they were `almost certain’ to buy one of the new devices, while 19 percent said that they were `very likely’ to buy one.
Earlier, Byron Capital Markets analyst Tom Astle had estimated that RIM may sell up to 40 million of its BlackBerry 10 devices over the next year, with about 15 million units being bought by who already have a current BlackBerry smartphones in the U.K, Canada, Europe and the U.S., where the new device won’t launch until March.
The corporate fascination with Blackberry has still not dimmed because according to the survey, those in the income bracket of more than $100,000 a year still wanted to buy the phones.

I wish there were Jan 2015 calls at the 50 or 60 strike. I'd load up!

The process is to ask your broker to request the CBOE to add them. Off I go! Let's all push fort this ;-)
I was told by an analyst who follows these things closely that the stock probably won't be even at $25 in two years. Many of the things it is trying to get going will take longer than that to come to fruition.
And this is from a pro-BB analyst. It really threw some cold water on my plans to buy call options.

Eh. Driven down close to $16 on a super low volume.

I'm expecting it to be up, at most, a half hour after open.

I hope it will go up before the opening bell, pre-market low was at 16.04. Wouldnt want to see this dropping below 16$ as the drop could be quite deep.

This was news from MONTHS ago. The short hedge funds are repeating old news. Looks like a head fake on low volume. let the shorts subsidize your BBRY purchases

15.81 pre-market low... I think we could easily go down to 15$ if it doesnt pick up.

You have to keep in mind that this stock is being driven purely by hype at the moment. There is virtually nothing tangible yet to instill solid confidence and as a result we're going to have extreme variability for a while yet. Likely to be like this until summer or fall.

if you buy the stock outright you can't loose more then you paid.

Maybe you should be researching more before buying any stocks.
