Default Whatsapp not finding my contacts

I am running the new 1055 leak and, this being a new phone, it is the first time I am installing Whatsapp. It does not see my contacts. I deleted and re-installed and still it does not see my contacts. I try and refresh but nothing. I even told some friends to msg me, the msgs came through, but when I try to 'add' them, nothing happens. Any ideas?

    thanks.

This is a tweak from BlackBerry to give WhatsApp feature parity with BBM.

BBM doesn't find my contacts either.

Make sure it has access to your contacts in the settings of the BlackBerry. Settings and app permissions, contacts should be toggled on.

Tapped out on Halle (Black)Berry aka Z10 running 10.2.0.1791

Uninstall, reinstall and at prompt during reinstall make sure that the access to contacts option is toggled on (checked)

try refreshing it. Under the STAR tab, tap menu and choose REFRESH.
Close whatsapp, give it a few minutes (depending on the number of your contacts), and reopen the app.
If that doesn't bear fruit, try restarting your phone.
