    Default Sideloading a slingplayer app?

Has anyone tried sideloading slingplayer for android on the Z10? I was really hoping sling was going to support BB10. I don't think it worked on the playbook, but I was curious to know if it will work on the Z10. I'm not getting my hopes up too much.
Does anyone have the .bar file for android slingplayer? I'll try it out.
    Thanks,

Slingplayer is one of the apps i would like to see, but I don't expect it. Since Sling is owned by Dish, app development has slowed, specially for any Blackberry device.

I know there is an android app, I just wish someone would take the time to port it over. It can't be that difficult!

If you get me the .apk, i can make the .bar file for you to try. I know it does not work on the playbook.

I have paid for the app already a few years ago. Once you pay for it, it allows you to have it installed on any one device of your choosing, but only one device. Once installed, it asks for your login and password and reads your account info. Sling has web access as well, along with facebook access, but these require plugins that don't work on the playbook or Z10. It's frustrating as it should be very easy for them to allow access, but they won't.
@jdgarrido - I don't have the .apk, so I can't send it to you to convert. Sorry

Any more word on this, this will be the ultimate deciding factor if I go Z10 or not.

Nothing yet that I'm aware of, unfortunately. There are ways to still access your slingbox via programs such as splash top, but it isn't quite as good as the actual sling player app.
I'm holding out hope that once the android player is updated, that we can sideload the android app.

Still nothing I assume? I can't wait any longer, guess it's looking more and more like I'm gonna have to get an iP5, ugh...

what is splash top? may not be perfect way to access my slingbox, but will it "work" on a z10?

Splashtop will give you remote access to your computer at home. So from within your computer you can then run sling player through the regular browser.

It's a workaround... and not a very good one. your video stream is "Twice Removed", and I don't think it works well, especially if traveling (car, train, etc)

Still no news on getting a Slingplayer app to work? I really miss this app. I have Splashtop and it's not even close to useable for me.

Has anyone tried yet? I only tried many versions of the dish sling app to no avail.
I totally forgot about my real slingboxes tho will try later, but oh the app for gingerbread was so ugly compared to the tablet version.
I don't have access to a computer so I can't sideload to try it ATM.

    Update

Ok just sideloaded v1.2 and it crashes right away, just like the dish sling player (no surprise in retrospective, probably share much code) i don't know if there's a newer gingerbread version, but either way let's hope that in the magic of putting 4.x runtime in, 1) some gingerbread apps start to work for the first time and/or 2) that the tablet versions of some of these apps work!
It's definitely in BlackBerry's interest to get a runtime that's as good as possible. Wonder how actively they monitor this forum, and to what avail, actually.. Hmmm

Did you ever end up finding a working version/solution? I have the .apk and I'm trying to convert it now via apk2bar(dot)unker(dot)net but it doesn't look like its working. I'm testing the BB10 for my company and the BB World App store is turning out to be quite a let down - I know its a whole new OS, but I expected to find the same apps available on previous BB's (curve/bold/etc).

What versin did you try? These details are very important guys!!
I suggest just waiting a month to find if the tablet version works with the new runtime before anyone starts to make conclusions. (granted it'll be in beta but that should be informative enough)
But pressuring sling would be worthwhile, esp if they had a BBOS app.
Aside -Surprised there's no way to run those older apps

    Thought..
Isn't there a way to convert flash to a BB10 app? That might be a way to go about this..
I found a thread here but it has a broken link: http://berryreview.com/2011/05/13/de...erry-playbook/

I'm new to side loading, how would I do this? Do I need to purchase the player at the android store first? I already have it for my android tablet could I side load that?

Just follow the instructions in these threads to sideload.

I guess you technically are not supposed to sideload paid apps. You can search for the apk file on the net and convert yourself.

My logic is I already paid for the app then sling decided to no longer support blackberry. If and when they come out with an app for the z10 I will purchase it at that time but until then, side loading works great.
