where is my 3G symbol?

last week i noticed that my 3g symbol is goneeeee. i only have EDGE and/or WiFi.

is this making my phone slower? (it seems like it but that could just be my imagination).

how can i get it back to 3g?

i have a 9800 torch.

Possibly a UMTS issue in your area. Try powering the phone off for a bit, then back on. If that fails, give Customer Care a ring and ask if their maps show any 3G service issues in the area.
