Default The Warranty Replacement Process...A little insight from the Reps??

Can one of you guys PLEASE explain this "Testing" process that refurbished phones go through before they are sent back out for distribution?!

I don't mean to slam any of you, but I've done had it with the refurbished phones I keep getting sent to me...They seem to constantly have a problem and I would have been better off with the first one I sent back...

It seems to me that by just turning the phone on, maybe even checking the browser and other minor functions, that its cleared to go "back into service"...If they are "tested" then why do I keep getting phones that are refurbished with problems?? Does AT&T not like Cops or something!?! (Sorry, needed some humor)

It just seems to be a bit aggravating to me that if we pay for a phone to USE, that some of us (seems to be a lot of people I've spoken with) have gotten back nothing but crap phones as replacements...

I finally had to make them send me a new phone after getting 4 replaced through customer care due to the purchase being inside the 30 day period. 1st one had no battery cover in the box,2nd one it came in the box and the box had gotten soaking wet in the shipping process(not sure how this happened) 3rd one the screen went out in 2 days the phone was on and working the screen was blank, 4th one came out of the box with a bad battery and charger.

Number 5 seems to be doing good and it was a brand new unit going on 2 months and no issues thus far. If I have to call again I will be getting a different model phone which I hate to do because the only other one is that girly 9700, which my hands are to big for the keyboard. This is my experiance with the 9000 and ATT.

AT&T employees are not really privy to the warranty testing process.

I hear all returned phones are sent to the manufacturer if they're not damaged, and the manufacturer sends repaired phones back for distribution as refurbished devices... but I've never called to just ask.

This page should prove somewhat enlightening if you can read between the lines.

Here is where I stand with this...

I'm working with my 3rd 9700 now...First one (brand new unit)...Trac-pad went south, and I lost all volume control...The Second one a "refurbished unit" had one MAJOR key issue...If I was stationary and talking on the phone...all I'd hear out of the other end Of the phone call was static, every time the other person would talk...And the trac-Pad went south, AGAIN.

SO FAR, this Bold seems to be working OK...I still get a lot of static when I'm on the EDGE network, but its not near as bad as #2..

I commented on another thread about replacements that I need to correct myself on. I went through 5 8110's before I was upgraded to the 9000...Went through 8 of the 9000's before I was upgraded to the 9700...I thought it was just me being picky and wanting this Phone I just paid for to work properly...And I let my wife tango with the other ones before I would send them in...Sure enough, she found the same problems as I described...So did a couple of my other friends, just to make sure I wasn't "just trying to get a better/newer phone"...

Harp on me if you want...I expect the phones to work, and when they don't...It erks my bell worse than most things in this world (unless its one of those people who can't seem to go FAST in the fast lane of the highway...That REALLY ticks me off!) Ha ha!
