switching carriers/leaving family plan?
Hi All,
New here. I did do a bit of searching but couldn't exactly find the info I was looking for.
Basically, I've about 2-3 semesters left as an undergrad and I'm currently still on my parents' family plan with AT&T and I've been thinking of setting up my own individual account though with another carrier (considering Sprint) for various reasons. Facts: My number is not the primary line, and my parents just renewed the contract sometime last year. Weird thing: They both upgraded their phones but it shows on the online account that because I did not upgrade mine, I still qualify for one. Question: Because I still qualify for a phone upgrade, does that mean my line was not 'renewed' and thus I can leave it without an ETF? Or is that device upgrade just available to me because I did not utilize it when my parents renewed the contract?
If anyone could clarify what's going on right now, that would be swell. Sorry for any confusion, or if this situation has been presented earlier and my searching skills are just not up to par. Happy New Year!
Cheers,
Keith
