WAIIIIIIT.
It may still exist. RIM doesn't purge abandoned BIS accounts very frequently. Okay... To fix this, you will need somebody who has an AT&T BlackBerry already, or just any AT&T SIM. And about an hour to kill.
First, you need to get to technical support; tell customer care you need to recover a BlackBerry account, and only tech support can help with that. In tech, you will need the rep to access your BIS account by your username if possible. It would most likely be Aimee_Fresh. Once that account is found, if the IMEI and PIN on that account match your same BlackBerry, just have your phone active on AT&T with a BlackBerry data feature. You may have to have tech support un-suspend your BIS account. Everything should work then.
Basically, your BIS account points to a specific phone, and has your email accounts in it. Whenever a BlackBerry asks RIM for access to BIS services, your PIN is used to find an active BIS account, and there you go.
Tech can also find BlackBerry accounts by the PIN code, and clear them out if need be, like if you ported out and can't activate BIS services with the new carrier and that same phone.
Beh, have to work in a few minutes, otherwise I'd have posted more clearly, but this is doable, just NOT within the usual scope of operations. Once everything is recovered and good to go, tech can zero out your AT&T BIS account, freeing your BB up for use anywhere again.
Oh, and with that, if your PIN is set up on another provider, they would have to zero your BIS account out to free it up to do all the mess above.
