Default Just bought 9700, insurance swap over?

I'm under contract with at&t and I just bought a used at&t branded Bold 9700 on eBay. I already have the wireless insurance on my account. Will it cover the Bold 9700 that I just bought if something happens to it?

No they will not.
They will only cover a bold purchased from them.

They will not switch the insurance to the newly acquired bold if activated.

It does not matter... the insurance only applies to the phones you get directly from them.

It would be stupid to offer insurance on a phone they don't know the condition of.

Yep, does not matter. And it would be a lie and thus fraud.

If you didn't buy it directly from ATT or an authorized retailer, they won't insure it.

You are all wrong. Yes they will insure it, i work for AT&T and i have had plenty of people come in with phones that were not there registered imei on their account and called insurance for them because of a cracked screen or whatever it may be and insurance had no problem swapping it out.

Well either somebody needs to inform the insurance company of this policy or its new. Couple years ago they refused to insure my Q that I bought from a friend. Same thing for a Nokia I bought from another friend in the past.

20blackone00, I won't believe a word of that until I see proof, and now also remember if the phone is under a year old they will swap it out for a refurb without insurance.

I would double check the policy and reply back with some proof.

And your reading comprehension is lacking as well. My comment was directed to the OP saying that they were just going to tell them that it was a gift which would be untrue. Sheesh!
