My mom wants a new phone, has a flip samsung, she gets only edge and has no signal.

What 3G phones out now, don't require you to get a data plan? I wouldn't mind buying off the market place, or even ebay.

Samsung Rugby II is a moderately durable flip phone that has no data or messaging requirements.

The Samsung SGH-A777 is also a good slider phone with no requirements.

Any phone with a 12-key numberpad and no touchscreen is just a basic phone, as far as feature requirements go.
