Default Forced Data Plan...

I currently have an LG VU with no data plan, and bought a locked AT&T bold 9000 off craigslist, last night i put my sim card in at about 10 pm everything worked fine, and then when i woke up this morning i had 2 text from at&t saying this phone requires a data plan, and they signed me up for one...without asking me...

Is there anyway I can use this phone without a data plan, using the wifi built in as internet, **** i dont even need data plan, i like the qwerty keyboard, please help

BTW - I called at&t and cancelled the plan

Nope, any smartphone activated after Oct '09 require a data plan. No work around. Only way is if u had it prior to Oct '09 then you're grandfathered in, otherwise, no

If you don't want a data plan, you must not want a smartphone THAT bad.

No way! The data plan comes on automatically. A smart phone really isn't good for anything anyways without having the data on there. I couldn't imagine having my blackberry without the internet!! What would be the point>??
