That is the same song and dance I experienced for months here in PA. I paid for a 3G device (9000) and dropped calls almost every time I was on the phone, so they told me to dummy the phone down to 2G...silly, eh? After trying several devices and SIM cards (which to me was BS, since they already know their 3G network is crap) I was finally forced to jump ship to Verizon. Since the switch I have not dropped a call (although the ATT folks I talk to occasionally drop me). I have had a 3G signal in all the places where ATT barely had a bar of 2G.
ATT likes to talk about how great their network is, but I just don't see it, having been on both sides of the fence...
If the ATT network was so much better, why would they need to resort to ads that spin the facts so much? Sure they have a large coverage map, but they don't mention that the VZ ads are 100% true about 3G coverage vs. ATT 3G coverage.
They also hype the 'talk on the phone while you surf', but fail to mention that you need to be in an ATT 3G area for that to work...good luck finding constant 3G on a drive of more than an hour...
