If it's less than a year old, and has no physical or liquid damage indications, it's covered by the warranty; but if you have plenty of warranty time left, see about reloading the software, and start with the previous OS version. Don't upgrade the OS until people stop complaining about the latest release.
A warranty replacement phone is always refurbished, and may not be in as good of condition as the phone you're sending back. Not to say that it would be defective; but manufacturer recertification is done by people. And you know people.
