bb to htc aria

My cousin is giving his HTC Aria to my sister who will be replacing her BB 9700. My sister has unlimited data. She got her BB before ATT changed to tiered pricing. If we just put her SIM card into the Aria willthat be fine or should we call ATT first? I don't want my sister to lose her unlimited data plan. Thanks in advance.

If you call AT&T and let them know she switched from a BlackBerry to another device, they will just switch the data from BIS to the normal data plan. I just did this yesterday with my wife as she just got an iPhone 4S. Took about 3 minutes on the phone with a rep.

Yeah, we called. Thanks for responding! But my sister wants a bigger screen phone like the Inspire. When we find a seller should we meet them at an ATT store so they can release the phone? I know you have to with VZW but not sure about ATT.

You should be fine with just placing your sisters SIM in the new phone and calling AT&T to ask them to switch from the blackberry (BIS) data plan to the normal data plan. Also, if your sister hapens to switch to a newer iPhone, her current SIM won't fit in the 4 or the 4s models, and you'd have to stop by a ATT store to pick up a Micro-SIM.
