Is this an ATT problem or a BB Problem?

I have BB Bold 9700, no problems for the last six months. Today while accessing VM, there was an overriding highpitched hum - will not go off even when I power down the phone. The phone works - but with this horrible sound in the background. When I went to check the ATT site to find out where the closest place was to get it checked it, the site is down for maintenance.

So - is this a service problem or a phone problem??? I am in NE Ohio.

Sounds like a network issue. If you don't have any important messages, ask a customer care rep to EXPIRE your voicemail feature, confirm that you have no voicemail provisioning, then ask them to restore it. You'll have to set up your voicemail again, but this may rebuild your mailbox on the platform. It's a really obscure issue. For feces and giggles, try calling your voicemail from your home phone (call your cell, use * to interrupt the VM greeting, enter your voicemail password). If the screeching is still there, it's the voicemail system. If not, it MAY be your phone, but that's not likely.
