Default $52.90 adjustment on bill?

I'm a recent switcher to AT&T from T-Mobile (after 4 years) and so far everything has been great, however I recently setup my online account (for bill pay, minute/data review etc.) and noticed that my first bill due amount seemed a bit high.

When I went into the detailed billing view, I noticed I had an adjustment for 52.90, with no additional information as to what it was caused by, or anything of the like. I went into an AT&T corporate store and while they were very helpful and trying to figure it out, because my line is so new, they weren't able to view my bill on their side.

When we setup the line of service, the rep who did it asked if we have a small business (which we do) and said we could have our activation fee (35.00) waived if we provided some information, of which we did (TIN, Arizona Employer Identification Number, Proof of business ownership) and we so we assumed that this would be waived, but could this 52.90 charge prove that assumption wrong?

I'm not worried or upset about paying this, I'd just like to know what it's for!

its most likely the rest of the month fee, with ATT you essentially are prepaying a month in advance. The end of the month is on the 28th so depending on when you opened the acct that might be it.

Well, without seeing your invoice and the details we wont be able to offer much other than contact ATT cust care or the ever so infamous line, what does your invoice say. And ATT will not just charge 52.XX with explaining it some wheres.

We opened the account on the 19th of the month (my contract is up 12/19/2012) and so I'm guessing that it's the cost of covering the remainder of the month until the regular cycle begins, so I'm guessing blueyestm's idea is probably right, they did say they'd take care of it if it was an activation fee or something which wasn't supposed to be there, so I won't worry too much.

Thanks a bunch!

Activation fees are always supposed to be there unless you have it in writing that they're not (typical for web stores selling new lines).

Everything on the bill is dated and detailed.

You even get a lovely colorful printout explaining everything that will be on the first bill, along with the easy-to-read terms of service. I keep mine in my briefcase.

Turns out that a large majority of the 52.90 was indeed Activation, which showed itself in my Customer Service Summary that I got sent, along with the first PDF copy of the bill I downloaded this morning.

I'll be heading back to the store to see what can be done, I'm not going to be too fussed if nothing is done about it, I was told it would be waived, but seeing how nice everyone I've dealt with at AT&T has been this far, If I end up paying it, oh well.

Don't let the store tell you to call Customer Care, because the store COULD have waived the activation fees. Customer Care isn't allowed to unless the store notes on your account that you are to have your activation fee credited back to you.

I found that out from one person I spoke to at another store, The same policy went with T-Mobile that unless you managed to get passed to retentions for it, Customer care weren't permitted to waive it for any reason.

Anyway, Thanks for your help, Mister Xiado.
