I did some research on this with these posts.

It seems that t-mobile has two types of lte.

For not knowing the terms i will say that the cheap lte they have is an enhanced 4G. The z30 will only see it as 4G.

I drove to Harrisburg pa from Jonestown and got the real lte to show up.

Enhanced 4G lte is like 1 to 3 Meg but all over the place.
The real lte is 30 Meg.

IF your phone displays '4G,' that's just HSPA+ which is closer to 3.5G than LTE. Theoretical maximum speed for this 4G is 42 mbps. Minimum at which your phone shows 4G (instead of 3G,) I don't know.

If you have LTE, your phone should show 4GLTE. Speeds on this can top 100mbps, and BBs so far are theoretically capable of pulling down at most 102 mbps.

Personally, I've gotten as high as 60 and as low as 8 when my phone was connected to LTE. I've seen screenshots of as high as 108+ and as low as 4 while connected to TMO LTE.
