Can anyone please tell me if it is necessary to purchase a replacement screen with the digitizer included, or can the screen be sourced separately?

My z30 is fully operational - just the glass that is cracked.

It appears from what I see on line that the part comes as one - glass + digitizer unit. Amazon. CA has them between $80 and $100 Cdn.

Pretty expensive - in relation to the value of the phone.

Is it possible to source the screen only - cheaper and if so where?

I looked at this deeply when I cracked my screen. You can buy the screen separately but you will need to glue it to the frame ( or something like that). And as I recall, there isn't much different in price. Consequently buy, the screen and digitizer assembly. It's between 50-60 bucks and it's about a 10 minute repair. Very easy. Apparently, you have to be careful not to over Tighten the screws. Other than that just be sure to get correct one for your phone. There are 2. A Verizon one and one for all other z30's.
