My friend got a z30 about two months ago and it's starting to reboot 5 times per day randomly. Is this a bad sign? Is it a hardware or software issue? Is there any bar files we could sideload to prevent this?
Any advice would be great.

Ran into a similar issue with a Z30. Turned out to be a flaky SIM card.
How did you know it was the sim though? Any sort of signs that pointed towards it?

Standard troubleshooting trial and error. First removed the SD card then the SIM card. Replaced the SIM and the issue went away. The next steps would have been a security wipe and an OS reload and then one app at a time until I found the culprit.
I think I found something that contributed to the problem. When I uninstalled the netflix app from amazon, it stopped rebooting. Hopefully it'll stay that way
