Simulate a physical keyboard. It's also the reason for the silver frets. It is not going to change.
So did the typewriter, computer, and laptop keyboards. I would genuinely like to know what problem/challenge/limitation/religious persecution, etc., this presents for you?
Ok. Ta.
IMO, simulating a physical keyboard (however iconic) is a bit pointless if it impacts usability. It isn't a physical keyboard after all and can be more adaptable. It reminds me of those stupid music players for PCs that simulated a rotary volume knob which had to be clicked and rotated with the mouse pointer.
Guess I'll just have to learn to live with it.

A touch screen mobile phone with a software keyboard is a variation or improvement on all three of those things. Is it unrealistic to expect the keyboard style and layout to be improved upon as well?
I'm sure I'll learn to live with it.

What would you suggest, to improve usability? I see you've just started using a Z10, so it may just be a matter of taking a week or two to get accustomed to the keyboard.
I've used other *cough* android *cough* phones and the keyboard changes depending on the caps lock. That gives immediate user feedback for the next keypress. I think it's nice, but not a must have.
Obviously when the phone is smart enough to fix capitalization mistakes it is less of a problem. And I guess some people might not like the keyboard flicker that occurs when changing case.
Yes, sir. I'm a brand new z10 owner, currently taking my fingers for a walk...

HOW SWAY?!?
Just use the keyboard a few more weeks until you realize it makes no difference at all; and that every keyboard you've ever used, and every other keyboard you use during the day has upper case letters on the board by default.
Will do. Ta.
