Ive been using my Z10 for more than 3 mos. already and I noticed that the pictures taken on a normal setting is quite darker than other phones with the same 8mp. Is this really the original built of this phone when it comes to its camera?

Check your settings cause I believe the camera on the Z10 is pretty good.

The Z10 camera is known to be too dark in low light but it looks amazing in naturally lit settings. It takes great pictures on a sunny day and okay ones on overcast days. You need a flash in darker settings. It is different but has the ability to take great pics once you get used to the camera. Not as 'point-and-shoot' as most people would like. I think I take pretty good pictures with it.
