[CrackBerry Question]

I have problem of my phone not showing contact name when I receive a call or message . I bought Z10 last month. I checked blackberry forum for help . I saw many people facing similar problem and solution offered to them was to go change things in smart dailling , but in my Z10 there is no smart dailing option . Please help to resolve to solve problem !!

yes i use china mobile I live in shanghai , china. Where is this smart dialing facility mentioned in blackberry forum ?

See I was user of blackberry curve before this and that phone worked just fine ... always showed caller ID of person calling . But my new Z10 which I bought last month is not showing callers name when I recieve call and sometimes also when I recieve message from someone whose name is stored in contact list .

Not everyone, there's some but. Low percentage.
Type my ver without the space it should look like this Z30STA100-5/10.3.0.700

I'm guessing it's an OS problem and updating your OS would possibly help

Your on the latest OS. You could maybe try to reload the OS. http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=941429 or post in this thread people might have ideas there

Ok here are a couple of things to try.

1st are your contacts stored to phone or cloud? If cloud, then go to settings > accounts & delete it. Hard reboot using volume keys. Then add account back and wait about 10-15 for all to sync.

If stored to phone (local) then just try hard reboot.

As for smart dialing: from inside phone app pull down from top then tap gear icon in right hand corner. Scroll down to "# smart dialing".

You said you're in China? I believe it has something to do w/ numbers beginning w/ "0".

I've read a solution somewhere and if I can find it I'll post here.

Dude this is getting very frustrating ... I think I have made a mistake buying this phone . Blackberry talks about its business going down I think this is what they deserve .

I had the same issue. I'm in India and the country code is +91. Since 0 can be used in place of +91, I had many contacts beginning with 0 and not +91. When I checked which contacts didn't show name those were only the ones with 0. And when I changed it to +91 they started appearing. Don't know if same is the case with you. Check for it.

Happens to me all the time too. Also, the favourite contacts in the phone screen sometimes do not display names but just numbers.

This is a highly annoying bug and BB should do something about this.

Do i understand you correctly? So when the phone rings, it displays "unknown number" or "private number"? If that's the case, the problem is with your caller line identification at your carrier and not BlackBerry.

Hi everybody i found the solution to my problem : I took the the sim out and opened my phone without sim i found #smart dialing option right there in my phone app > settings . I had my country code wrong and area code missing . I also mentioned the length of phone no. In my country china ( i.e 11 by the way ) and voila it worked. After i inserted sim things became normal as in my other phones .

Bbz10 right here for how wanna help for the 1 got problem with z10 contacts just looking for update u device do not use BlackBerry with other devices that'swhat happened with me use BlackBerry softwear

This is so annoying. Sometimes the caller name appears ok and sometimes it doesn't! It is inconsistent..

I use gmail contacts. But I don't think that this matter.. it's something about caching.

I had this problem with multiple versions.
