I own a Nokia E5 (Nokia's answer to BB to put it shortly) but I want to upgrade because since the demise of Nokia most of my services have been cut.
They used to have a push service which used their servers, months after Microsoft bought them, it was terminated. I moved to Mail for Exchange on gmail but last month it was terminated too. If I use IMAP it doesn't keep the client connected. And a lot of apps don't work anymore (youtube, skype, etc).
I'd love to get a Jolla but that won't happen due to availability and price.
I was determined to get a Z10 and end my pains, but now I saw the Android rumors and I'm afraid that BB10 could go the way of Symbian. What's the worst I should expect from a Z10 2 years from now?

You should expect a Z10 running BB10 will last as long as you care to use it, regardless of what the future of BB10 is. Even if BlackBerry does not make any major improvements to BB10, BlackBerry still values BB10 hardware as part of the best end to end security solution they can offer to their enterprise and government customers.

When he was being interviewed yesterday, Chen indicated that BlackBerry will continue to be in the hardware business as long as it is making money for them.

Z10 is a lovely phone, and should be working fine in a couple years, provided you dont drop it from 100 feet ; ) .

And, even if BlackBerry dumps it, for $120-$150 what could be bad about using it now?

Z30 is even better, if you dont prefer the smaller size of the Z10.

I'm the OP, I just registered here. Ended up ordering it after concluding that it's not very cloud-dependent, based on stuff like IMAP idle support. Z30 was out of the question because I'm from South America and there's a hard cap of USD200 if you don't want to pay taxes for your online purchases abroad.
