    Because they can't build what they want to in the app on BlackBerry 10.

    While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future.

    MIght be that if BB10 was a product still under development by BlackBerry... that it would be capable of whatever it is WhatsApp is wanting to implement. I expect there will be a lot of upset folk still using older technology at the end of the year.. as it's not just outdated BlackBerry software that they are ending support for...

    BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10
    Nokia S40
    Nokia Symbian S60
    Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
    Windows Phone 7.1
    iPhone 3GS/iOS 6

    But when BlackBerry sent out that letter to developers last fall, that was seen as many as their notification that BB10 develpment was over... other than a couple of minor security patches.
