[CrackBerry Question]

Grretings guys, a proud new owner of a white z30 which I received a week ago through that amazing black friday sale ($225!!). I unboxed the device and immediately installed a system update to 10.2.1.3062 via wifi ota. At which point I also installed blackberry link to my desktop and transferred my contacts and such from my previous device (9360) to my z30. I then began to notice something strange as I was only getting about 12 hours of charge of even less when I baby the phone. I was looking forward to the idea of 24 hours of battery life but in this first week that oddly has not been the case my system monitor fluctutates and it will go from 100% to 95% in the span of 40 minutes which I find alarming. I've read that the OS needs "time to settle" in the first 48 to 72 hours but it's almost been a week since I activated the device and I'm starting to wonder if I got a defective unit? Considering I was ordering straight form the blackberry site I was having full confidence in the build quality of my purchase. I unboxed on the 5th of december and now its the 12th. I'm overseas and it was a relative who took advantage of the deal so I wont be able to return the device if indeed it is defective. I need some help and I need some insight. Been a long time fan of he site and the community so I turn to y'all. Respect and blessings.

Go to Settings/App Manager/device Monitor and see what is "eating up" your resources. Installed a bunch of apps, Maybe an offending android app...

Some of the issue could be from transferring "and such". Try again but just transfer contacts to start.

thanks for the insight, oddly enough it seems to be telling me that its my display, but I have the display settings at just below half (maybe 45 percent). The only android app I downloaded were unrar and app manager but I deleted those both but it hasn't seemed to make any difference, so ultimately I'm not sure

Post your device monitor screen with the battery graph here. Select "last 48hrs" on the top right.

This could help to identify your issue.

there you go man, but with my screen brightness at below average, I'm clueless as to why its taking 80%

Do you have the screen set to never dim? Always on? Never mind that makes no sense you have it at 1 min.

But does it actually turn off after a minute? Some apps may override that setting.

yea it dims out after the minute, and the worst part is I got the swivel holster that supposed to save me some battery life when I have it in there. The phone is great otherwise, but I'm upset that I cant get the results I'm seeing other people experience

Your device monitor is clean. No apps misbehaving.

I've seen that Z30 takes more than 2 weeks to settle. There was another thread like this a week back. That user slowly got to good battery life after some 10 days.

So, I'd suggest giving it time.

The other explanation is that the OTA update didn't go well. So you can backup your stuff with LINK and do security wipe to wipe the device. See if that helps
