    For some reason, every time I play a track that's mp3 format it suddenly cuts out and says cannot play due to an unknown error (1)

    I've had the same memory card and z10 for a year and a half.

    Can anyone shed some light?

    Try doing a phone reset (sounds like it'll erase data - it doesn't) by holding both top and bottom volume rockers till the red notification light starts glowing and the phone restarts

    If it's an STL100-1 you have, that method isn't available. In that case keep pressing the button on top till your device turns off and on again and you see the blue boot up circle. Then you can let go.

    I found that if you're on a mobile disconnection, and it disconnects due to low and weak signal, it has a big chance of handing in that error.
