I was about to purchase a Passport thru Baka Wireless but they have raised their price to $249 on a two-year plan. Yesterday it was $149. Any ideas why they would do that?

Good question... they certainly did raise it - BlackBerry Passport from Bell Mobility | Bell Canada
I would imagine they raised it because they could.
Supply & Demand? The Passport is selling at a consistent pace? Indirectly, that may be very good news!
For Bell, that's probably the most accurate.
The Passport and every other cellphone that was on sale during Christmas/Boxing week have now returned to their regular pricing. It has nothing to do with how well a phone is or isn't selling. At the beginning of a new quarter the phones go to the regular pricing and then go on sale occasionally depending on who is selling the device.
Unfortunately you waited until the sale was over and now the Passport is back to the regular pricing. Keep an eye on BestBuy, Future Shop and any other third party retailers for sales. They get paid on hitting volume targets so are more inclined to give a deal on devices then a corporate/dealer owned cellular store.
