    I cannot send or receive messages, and the chhannels do not update. I can browse the Web. I've already installed the latest update and rebooted the phone several times.

    Here is something incredibly odd. I just tried to go to Blackberry world. I got a message that says, "You are currently on a service pan that requires a Wi-Fi connection to use this application. [That's true.] If you want to use this application outside of Wi-Fi, please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan." When I select "OK," Blackberry World closes. The problem is that I am home right now connected to my Wi-Fi. I just loaded a Web page to prove it to myself. So, it seems my carrier knows I'm connected to Wi-Fi, but Blackberry doesn't. How do I fix that?

    You need to contact your carrier and change your generic data plan to a BIS plan.

    Sounds like you don't have a data plan, or your carrier hasn't set up BIS you, thus BBM won't work
